"Side By Side – The Painted Flags"
The painting was created by prominent Canadian artist Charles Pachter C.M., LLD in the months following the 9/11 tragedy in the USA.
It was created in the memory of all victims of this barbaric attack and to honour Ralph Gerhardt of Toronto who perished in The World Trade Center.
The symbolism of the two flags fluttering together on one pole has a very special meaning for all who appreciate the long-term, good standing, interactive and proven relationship between two old neighbours and North American friends.
This exquisite peace of art, in the form of commemorative poster, first ever was presented to the Mayor of New York City as a gesture of friendship and solidarity during "Canada Loves New York" Rally in the Roseland Ballroom on December 1st, 2001.
The original painting and copies were presented to the high profile officials and dignitaries on all level of Governments, including Prime Minister of Canada, Ministers, Senators, Member of Federal and Provincial Parliaments, Mayors and Diplomats of various countries, including the United States Ambassador to Canada and Canadian Consul General to New York City.
