polymer clay half moon earrings
Learn how to craft beautiful polymer clay earrings the easy way! This new, revolutionary product has the designs already in the clay! Simply cut, bake and assemble!
Step 1 |
Ensure your work area is clean, dry and free of dust. Roll out the clay slab to the desired thickness using a roller. Alternate between rolling horizontally and vertically to preserve the design. Use the thickness guides to roll the clay out to a 3mm thickness. |
Step 2 |
Lightly dust the clay with corn starch to prevent it from sticking. Place the large round cutter on the slab and press down to cut out a large round shape. Then, place a small round cutter on the edge of the large round shape and press down to cut out a half moon shape. |
Step 3 |
Use a clay awl to poke a hole on the top edge of the half-moon shape and another hole on the bottom edge of the shape. |
Step 4 |
Preheat the oven to 250°F [120°C] and allow the oven to come to temperature. Place the clay piece carefully on an oven-safe baking sheet lined with parchment paper; then put it into the oven for 15-20 minutes. |
Step 5 |
Once baked, remove the clay slab piece from the oven and allow it to cool completely before handling. |
Step 6 |
Slide a bead through the eye pin, then bend the eye pin to a 90° angle and cut it, leaving a ¼" [0.6 cm] tail. Make a simple loop using round pliers. |
Step 7 |
Attach the clay shape to an earring post using a 9mm jump ring. Open and close the jump ring using flat pliers to secure the earring post in place. |
Step 8 |
Attach a bead connector and a tassel to the bottom shape of the earring using a 9mm jump ring. Open and close the jump ring using flat pliers to secure the components in place. |
Step 9 |
Add tiny charms on top of the shape using small drops of glue. |
Step 10 |
Repeat all steps to make the second earring. |
