polymer clay solar system necklace
Learn how to craft beautiful polymer clay jewelry the easy way! This new, revolutionary product has the designs already in the clay! Simply cut, bake and assemble!
| Step 1 |
Ensure your work area is clean, dry, and free of dust. Roll out the clay slab to the desired thickness using a roller. Alternate between rolling horizontally and vertically to preserve the design. Use the thickness guides to roll the clay out to a 3mm thickness. |
| Step 2 |
Lightly dust the clay with cornstarch to prevent it from sticking. |
| Step 3 |
Place the large round cutter on the clay and press down to cut out a large round shape. |
| Step 4 |
Repeat Steps 1-3 with five different clays to create the solar system. Roll out each color of clay, cut out round shapes; then cut tiny round shapes using tiny round cutters. Place these round circles on top of the large piece to represent planets. |
| Step 5 |
Poke a hole in the top of the large round shape using a clay awl tool. |
| Step 6 |
Preheat the oven to 250°F [120°C] and allow the oven to come to temperature. Place the clay pieces carefully on an oven-safe baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then put them into the oven for 15-20 minutes. |
| Step 7 |
Once baked, remove the clay pieces from the oven and allow them to cool completely before handling. |
| Step 8 |
Attach the circle pendant to the chain necklace using a 7mm jump ring. Open and close the jump ring using flat pliers to secure the pendant in place. |
| Step 9 |
Draw tiny circles around the solar system with gold paint using a clay awl or a fine-tipped brush to add detail and decoration. |
